One Brother one sister (1b1s) Program
AND ESJ PARTNERS llc ANNOUNCE FUNDRAISING
AND EXECUTIVE SUPPORT partnerSHIP
Davie, Florida, February 6, 2022 – One Brother One Sister (1B1S) and ESJ Partners LLC jointly announced a new fundraising and executive support agreement today. The announcement was made by Ed Jachim, President of ESJ Partners LLC, and Karyn Hurley and Scott Jones, Founders of Addicted Communities Coalition Inc /One Brother One Sister program.
Addicted Communities Coalition, Inc and the 1B1S Program, a 501 © (3) organization, was founded in 2020 by Scott Jones and Karyn Hurley, who lost her brother, Michael Hurley who was a firefighter and veteran, to trauma and addiction. Captain (Ret) Jody Marlow, who had lost many close to him from the first responder community, joined with Hurley and Jones in 2020. Each of the founders felt it was time for more to be done. Lyle Fried, who had been working with First Responders and veterans, was asked to join the mission in 2021. The mission of the organization is to provide “Proactive” educational programs, access to resources, and information based on real experiences, that address the seen and unforeseen issues affecting the physical and mental wellbeing of uniformed personnel and their families.
“We are excited to work with Ed and his team. In our first meeting we heard Ed’s passion for first responders and the work we are doing. We know he will be as dedicated to the cause as we are in our organization,” said Hurley. “Our primary focus includes work in the following areas: prevention, education and intervention. We have a passion for helping first responders process trauma and other aspects of their work that can be detrimental to their overall health and wellness. The One Brother One Sister program provides training and resources related to mental health and resiliency, addiction and alcohol abuse, peer counseling, family and spouse support, physical health and nutrition education and financial matters specific to first responders.”
“It is estimated that 30% of first responders develop behavioral health conditions during their time of service, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and addiction and alcohol abuse,” said Jachim. “The recent tragedy of the two St. Lucie county Sheriff’s Office deputies that took their own lives shines a light on the mission of One Brother One Sister. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to help this organization raise the critical resources needed to positively impact this growing need of support.”
